Attorney Robert M. Draskovich Representing Woman Charged with Murder

|

On April 22, 2019, Pamela Rene Bordeaux, who also goes by Pamela Rene Schoening, was arrested for shooting and killing her former son-in-law, who was leaving her residence after an hour-long visit with his son. When police arrived on the scene, she admitted to firing her weapon at the man.

Although prosecutors have called her actions unprovoked, Bordeaux’s attorney Robert M. Draskovich, Jr. said that the 55-year-old retired police detective was acting in self-defense. He said her son-in-law had been asking for more visitation with his child and threatened the family. According to a bail motion filed by her attorneys, “Bordeaux was deeply concerned for the safety of herself, her daughter, and her 3-year-old grandson.”

Bordeaux, who served in the Army for 4 years, shot the 32-year-old man in the head, torso, and hands. On May 16, 2019, a grand jury indicted her for murder with the use of a deadly weapon.

Since the shooting, Bordeaux has been held in Clark County Detention Center without bail. On June 25, 2019, Clark County District Court Judge Valerie Adair set bail for $1 million, stating the amount is high to deter Bordeaux from leaving town, which could lead to greater sentencing if she is convicted.

Draskovich said he expected Bordeaux to post bail and be released on house arrest until her trial. The court proceedings are set to begin on February 3, 2020.
