Domestic Violence Penalties in Nevada Are Very Serious
If you are convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, you will spend a mandatory minimum of two days in jail, in addition to fines, probation, and other problems associated with having a domestic violence conviction on your record. Another penalty, which is not often discussed, involves taking and passing a domestic violence prevention course. These classes must be taken once a week for six months. Each class is 90 minutes long, and you must attend each class in person. You cannot attend these classes online. We have talked to people who have had to take these classes.
